How much does IELTS cost?

The official IELTS test cost NZD$410* (including GST) in 2024. Payment is required at the time of your online application. Note that some locations may be subject to an additional surcharge.

*On 1 May 2024, the IELTS test fee will increase by $35. Book now and take advantage of the current fee before the increase takes effect. Note that some locations may be subject to an additional surcharge.

The price for the exam is the same whether you take IELTS General Training or IELTS Academic. There is no separate registration fee, payment processing fee, or late payment fee.

Most New Zealand test centres charge NZD$410* for an IELTS test. So, if you need to sit an IELTS test in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch the price will be the same. But, if you want to sit your IELTS test in a regional location or the Pacific, the test fee might be higher.

How do you register for your IELTS test and find the test fee? 

• Find your closest IELTS Test Centre . 

• Choose the format that works for you.
  First, choose between IELTS on paper and IELTS on computer.
  Then, choose between IELTS Academic or IELTS General Training.

• Choose your preferred test date and time.

• Click “Book now.” 

• Complete all the steps in the registration form (don’t worry, you can always cancel your booking).

• On the payment page, you will see the test fee for your IELTS test.

There are a few ways to pay for your IELTS test. Every test centre will have different payment options available. Generally you will be able to use the following payment methods available:

• Alipay 

You can choose to pay using a Visa or Mastercard debit or credit card. Make sure your card is valid and activated for online transactions.
