Didn’t get the results you need?

We understand the frustration of not achieving your desired IELTS band score for workstudy or migration. The good news that if you feel that your performance on test day is not reflected in the score you received, you can request a review (also called an IELTS re-mark or IELTS Enquiry on Result) within six weeks of sitting your test.

You may choose to have one or more test modules re-marked and the fee is $215.

Book before 1 July 2025 to secure your test at the current fee and save.

We know how important this is to you, and we aim to get the remark to you as quickly as we can. Remarks may be completed within less than an hour or up to 21 days.

If your result is changed to a higher band score you will:

  • receive a full refund

  • be issued with a new Test Report Form

Requesting a re-mark

If you are not happy with your result, you can request a review of your score(s) through a service called an Enquiry on Results.

During the review process:

  • test papers are re-marked by senior Examiners/Markers

  • your test centre is then notified of the re-mark result and if the mark has changed, they issue a new Test Report Form.

You will need to pay an Enquiry on Results fee, which is fully refunded if your band score changes. Contact your test centre for more information about fees.

Your result can become available on the same day as your application and up to 21 days after your application. The time it takes depends on several factors, including the number of sections you’ve asked us to re-mark. If you have not received a response after 21 days, please contact your test centre.

How to apply for an IELTS re-mark or Enquiry on Results?

Applying for an IELTS re-mark or Enquiry on Results depends on your test delivery format (on paper or on computer) and the test centre where you took you test.

If you have taken your IELTS on computer test, you can login your IELTS profile. Click on "Past tests" to view the previous IELTS tests you have taken. If your test is within the timeframe eligible for a re-mark, you can simply click the "Re-mark" option and follow the next steps to apply for an Enquiry on Results.

If you have taken an IELTS on paper test, your process will vary depending on your test centre:

  • For test takers who have taken their IELTS on paper test at an IDP centre, please email ielts.auckland@idp.com .

  • If you have taken an IELTS test at another test centre, please contact them directly or contact us via live chat or the contact form
