Can you tell us about your background and what motivated you to start this journey?
I completed Year 12 in 2023, and my family decided to relocate to Australia in mid-2024 for work. As a result, I could only begin my university journey in 2025.
Coming from a background where education and growth have always been important to me, I was motivated to pursue my goal of becoming an engineer. I applied to Central Queensland University for the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) program and needed to complete the IELTS test to meet the English language requirements.
This journey has been driven by my passion for building a strong foundation in engineering and taking advantage of the academic and professional opportunities that Australia offers.
What are some key achievements since moving to Australia that you’re most proud of?
Since relocating to Australia, one of my proudest achievements has been successfully transitioning into higher education and gaining acceptance into the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) program at Central Queensland University.
Moving to a new country with my entire family was challenging, but I’m proud of how quickly I adapted to my new environment, met academic requirements, and took important steps toward building my future career.

What are you most proud of in your journey, and what do you hope to achieve next?
I’m most proud of my ability to navigate a completely new system—from settling into a new country to preparing for and excelling in my IELTS exam with an overall band score of 7. This achievement boosted my confidence and opened doors for me to begin my university studies.
Next, I hope to successfully complete my Bachelor of Engineering degree, specialise in my chosen field, and contribute to major infrastructure projects in Australia.

Why did you choose to take the IELTS test over other tests?
I chose the IELTS test because of its global recognition and availability in my town, credibility, particularly for academic and immigration purposes.
It's widely accepted by universities and institutions in Australia, and I was confident it would meet all my needs. Additionally, I appreciated the availability of resources to prepare for the test, which made the process less intimidating.

How do you think IELTS has strengthened your confidence in using English in real-life situations?
Preparing for IELTS helped me improve my English in all aspects: reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
I now feel more confident engaging in conversations, interacting with colleagues , or navigating everyday situations like shopping or asking for directions. The practice I gained from preparing for the Speaking test gave me confidence in expressing myself clearly and effectively.

How was your experience with the IELTS Speaking test?
The one-on-one Speaking test was a great experience because it felt natural, like a real conversation. The examiner was professional and approachable, which helped me feel comfortable, and as a result, I achieved the highest score in Speaking.
I believe the format allowed me to fully demonstrate my English-speaking abilities, as I could elaborate on my thoughts and answer in detail, rather than feeling restricted as I might in a computerised test.

How would you rate the support you received from IELTS?
The support from IELTS was excellent. The test center staff were friendly and provided clear explanations when I had questions about the paper-based test, and they were helpful on the day of the exam, ensuring everything ran smoothly.
The preparation materials, especially the resources on the IELTS website, were incredibly useful. They provided sample questions, answers, and practical tips that helped me feel fully prepared.
