Covid-19 restrictions for New Zealand

New Zealand has implemented traffic light settings as part of the COVID-19 Protection Framework. All of New Zealand is at the Orange traffic light setting.
IDP supports robust health measures to ensure our staff and test takers can attend a test centre with confidence. As such, IELTS testing has been determined as a Close Proximity Service. At the setting of Orange
, test takers are required to wear a mask to enter the venue and throughout the test.
Test centres in New Zealand will continue to operate in a restricted manner, ensuring that all COVID-19 requirements are being met. Please contact your test centre for more details or read more about what to expect on test day here.

The majority of IELTS test centres have started testing again. Please check your test centre’s calendar for any updates and upcoming test dates. If you are located in another country, please contact your test centre or visit information for our global test taker community for more updates.
We know the temporary suspension of IELTS testing in Auckland was inconvenient, especially if you need a test for work, study or migration. However, to protect the health and safety of everyone, the Government put certain restrictions in place. That also means restrictions on IELTS testing. If you need an IELTS test urgently, please check the booking calendar below.

If your test has been suspended, we have prepared a few tools to help you use the time to improve your score.

If you are unable to attend your scheduled IELTS test due to the travel ban or specific government restrictions, please contact your test centre or contact us online to arrange a full refund or test date transfer.

You may be asked to complete a transfer/refund form and provide supporting documentation within two days after your test date. Your application will be reviewed by your test centre and you will be advised of the outcome.
